About me

Hi, Thank you for visiting my blog. I am Sowmya Murali. I have passion for drawing kolams and line drawings from childhood, inspired by my Amma, Grandma, aunts and other artists like Shilpi, Maniam, Maniam Selvan, Padmavasan, Veda, Keshav and so on.

Four years ago, I was blessed by Mahaperiyava to draw Ambal and Periyava in different poses from photos. With encouragement from friends and family I drew more and more. Seeing Periyava appear in my canvas and bless me with his gracious smile, became by biggest happiness.

Shri.Sai Srinivasan from Sage of Kanchi blog (mahaperiyavaa.blog) asked me to draw pictures for Shankara Charitham series from 5th part of MahaPeriyava’s Deivathin Kural. This helped me get creative and expand into different techniques. I got many good friends and teachers over the past four years who taught me Lalitha Sahasranamam, Mooka Pancha Shathi, Narayaneeyam and basics of Samskritham language. This helped me understand the depth of Mahaperiyava’s words and present it in my drawings. Have created this blog to present all my drawings in one place with search capabilities. I welcome your feedback.
